#2月好去地方2025 The Matai Ancient Trail is located in Yixing Village, Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County. It used to be the only road connecting the Matai Tribe of the Atayal tribe to the outside world. Matai means "foggy tribe" in the Atayal language. The Matai Ancient Trail is close to Neiwan Old Street and is a great place for hiking that is easy to access. The entire trail is about 2-3 kilometers one way, with a gentle uphill slope, lush forests, quiet primitive dirt roads, and you can also listen to the gurgling sound of Youluo Creek. The trail is particularly cool to walk on, and there are negative ions in the air, which gives you an indescribable sense of health and satisfaction. The end of the ancient trail was at the "Sanchenshan B&B" where we enjoyed an aboriginal fish lunch special. The dining area had a wide view and you could see Mawudu and Wai Niaozui Mountain in the distance. The relaxing and pleasant day trip ended with delicious food!
