Wat Thawararam, Kanchanaburi Province

Wat Thawararam or Wat Yuan was built during the reign of King Nangklao, Rama III. It is considered the first Vietnamese temple in Kanchanaburi Province and is an ancient temple that is over a hundred years old. This temple was founded by the Vietnamese people’s faith in Buddhism, which led to the construction of this temple. The temple’s Vietnamese name is “Kan Tho Tue”, which means “living permanently” in Thai. Therefore, it is the name of the temple, Wat Thawararam, which was granted by King Chulalongkorn, Rama V. Inside the temple, there is a very prominent place, which is the temple’s chapel, which has a Chinese-Vietnamese architectural style mixed with Vietnamese art.
