Srinakarin Lake, Kanchanaburi, Thailand

#Thailand Attractions Srinakarin Lake in Kanchanaburi Province, named after a former Thai princess, is far less well-known than the Bridge on the River Kwai and the nearby Erawan Falls in the province. However, Kanchanaburi, Thailand’s third largest province, has much more to offer, with an abundance of wildlife, rivers, waterfalls, caves, forests and lakes. Srinakarin Lake has attractions and adventures for all ages and types of tourists - hiking, river cruises, stalagmite caves, historical sites, stunning waterfalls and many great resorts. Srinakarin Lake was created when the Thai government built the Srinakarin Dam on the Khlong Yai River. The dam is 140 meters high and 610 meters long, and the power station has a capacity of 720 MW, of which 360 MW is pumped storage. Srinakarin Lake is surrounded by mountains covered with evergreen forests, parts of which have been declared Srinakarin National Park, where the Waimekamin Falls are also located.
