Kashima Jingu

Kashima Jingu is located in Kashima, 2 hours from Tokyo. It is one of the three biggest Shinto shrine in Japan. ☑️The main shrine The main shrine is at the top of the area. After going up the slope or steps, you can reach here. ☑️Mitarashi Mitarashi stands for bathroom and when we write in kanji, it is same as washroom. People who visit the shrine need to wash their body in this pond long time ago, it is named Mitarashi same as bathroom. There is a superstition that when people walk into the pond, the depth was adjusted by the height of the people. When the child walk into the pond, the depth changed to sharrow. Mitarashi dango also stands for this pond since it looks like this pond when dip the dango. #kashimajingu #shrine
