At the time of its founding, it was the Tendai sect, but it was replaced by Zen sect in the Kamakura period, and then the temple was burned down due to the war disaster of the Sengoku period. However, it is said that only the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha created by Gyoki Bosatsu was miraculously burned. In the Edo period, it was revived by the efforts of Zen master Jogan Jiko. At this time, the name was changed to "Oike-ji Temple". Currently, in the temple, you can see the main hall, which was revived in the Edo period, almost as it was at that time.
