#springwander In 1889, the Kure Chinjufu was opened. At that time, the "Irufuneyama Memorial Hall" preserves and opens to the public the building built as the commander-in-chief's office. In 2016, it was certified as one of the components of the Japan Heritage "Chinjufu Yokosuka, Kure, Sasebo, Maizuru - a town where you can experience the vitality of Japanese modernisation". It was damaged by the Geiyo earthquake in 1905 and rebuilt. It was designed by Kotaro Sakurai, who was the first in Japan to be officially recognised by the British Royal Architectural Association architect at the young age of 18. Currently, this second-generation building has been restored and opened to the public.
