Kyoto｜The historic Kamogawa Shijo Bridge

#MarchGoodPlaces2025 Shijo Bridge is a bridge across the Kamogawa River in Kyoto, Japan. It was built in 1142 (the second year of the Eiji Era) and is a bridge with a very long history. There is a lot of traffic here, and the western part of the Kamogawa River is the commercial district of Shijo Kawaramachi. The crowded people on the bridge are in stark contrast to the people sitting on the riverside below the bridge after a leisurely stroll. If you come in spring or autumn, you can enjoy the blooming cherry blossoms and falling maple leaves. It is so beautiful. (Unfortunately, I came a little late, and the cherry blossom season has passed. Although it is a little regrettable, it feels a little unrealistic to be able to walk in such a long history and integrate it with real life. 🙈) The tranquility of Kamogawa makes people reluctant to leave. But this is the last stop of the Osaka-Kyoto trip. If I didn't have to catch a flight and rush back to the hotel to get my luggage, I really hope to continue walking along the Kamogawa River (but it seems a bit difficult to walk 33 kilometers 😂), and I can also see one of the unique scenery of the Kamogawa River, various strange flying stones and turtle stones, which are attractions that appear in many TV dramas and animations. Many local people come here for pilgrimage.
