The Art of Ramen in Kyoto : Sugari

Stepping beyond the facade of heritage, one is welcomed by a calm Zen garden like waiting space, stairs leads up to a digital meal ordering stand where you can pay with a tap of most major payment cards. Whilst paying, the attentive staff would have already prepared your tea and seat in advance and guided to it as soon as u step into the dining compound. From start to finish, one can see the chef and assistant meticulous timing the cooking with care and feel the sincerity they have towards their preparation of food for you. Observing the space as I am enjoying the ramen, there were touches of poetic placements of decor, a window with a view of a quaint tiled roof, the grey stone/steel dining bar that would have first caught your eye-juxtaposing traditional Japanese woodwork- truly artisanal in both spirit, space and food. P.s. just below your dining area is a drawer of surprise of spice.
