Wat San Pa Yang Luang, Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Lamphun, Lamphun Province is a beautiful temple, especially the chapel, which is ranked as one of the 10 most beautiful chapels in Thailand. Phra Wihan Phra Khieo Khong was built in 1993 using golden teak and red wood pillars from Laos, Burma, and Thailand. Inside, the wood carvings were designed by Phra Khru Ba In, who designed the construction and local patterns, combining the old and the modern eras. When viewed from the front, Phra Wihan Phra Khieo Khong has a 5-tiered roof with 5 gables, which represent the 5 Buddhas. The three at the back represent morality, concentration, and wisdom, which refer to the practice of the Buddha in order to attain nirvana. The 5 in front and 3 at the back equal 8, meaning that one must follow the middle path, which is the Eightfold Path, to attain the Middle Path, and the 9th path, which is the supramundane Dhamma. In addition, inside Phra Wihan Phra Khieo Khong is the enshrined Phra Phuttha Annyaratna Maha Natee Si Hariphunchai, or Phra Khieo Khong, a Buddha statue carved from Mekong River stones in Ban Don Mahawan, near Laos.
