#langkawitrip#museums A couple of months before, I had visited the Galeria Perdana in Langkawi, and it was an eye-opening and remarkable experience. This museum is a tribute to Malaysia’s 4th & 7th Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and showcases the many gifts and awards he received during his time in office. The collection is massive and surprisingly diverse, everything from fine art, cultural artifacts, ceramics, textiles, to even automobiles and traditional weaponry. It feels less like a political museum and more like a global cultural archive. The architecture of the gallery itself is also stunning, with intricate Islamic-inspired design elements and a grand dome that adds to its majestic feel. Features with beautiful wooden carvings and well-maintained exhibition halls. What I appreciated most was how well-curated and informative the displays were. Each section was neatly organized, and there were plaques and explanations in both Malay and English. It gave great insight not just into the man himself, but also the diplomatic relationships Malaysia has fostered over the decades. The Galeria Perdana is a bit off the typical tourist trail, but I’d highly recommend it to anyone who loves history, culture, or just wants a break from beaches and nature.
