Phu Ruea National Park covers the area of ​​Phu Ruea and Tha Li districts in Loei province. The northern boundary is adjacent to Laos. The shape of Phu Ruea is shaped like a large boat. The top of the mountain is a strikingly colorful cliff. Some rocks look like they have been sculpted. The locals call it “Kwan Samo”. Around the mountain top, you can see small and large mountains nearby covered with white mist and fog, covering the lush forest. It covers an area of ​​approximately 120.84 square kilometers. Phu Ruea peak is the highest point in the national park, approximately 1,365 meters above sea level. It is a steep cliff. The surrounding area is covered with pine forests, both two-needle and three-needle pines, alternating with natural stone fields. You have to walk up the mountain from Pha Lon Noi for approximately 700 meters. From here, you can see beautiful scenery all around, including the Hueng River and the Mekong River, which separate the Thai-Laos border. On the top of Phu Ruea, there is also the Buddha statue Nawabanphot, which the Phu Ruea people brought from Ayutthaya. From the top of Phu Ruea, there is a hiking trail through an area with small flowers such as Silver Button, Phu Marigold, and Pra Phu, which bloom beautifully in the winter. In the pine forest near Thung Kwang Tai, there are Krachiao flowers blooming in the early rainy season around May.
