Laos Trip 3: From the Natural Gem of Kuang Si Falls to the Animal Star of the Elephant

Kuang Si Falls, also known as "Golden Deer Falls," is located 29 km from the ancient city of Laos. It is a magnificent natural wonder. Although it is not as grand as Niagara Falls, the world's largest waterfall, or as tall as China's Huangguoshu Waterfall, it attracts tourists from all over the world with its unique charm. Laos has only two seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season is from November to April, when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold, making it the best time to visit Laos. I visited Laos in mid-December, which was the perfect time to see the waterfall. The unique karst landscape makes the water cascading down the mountain as blue as the sky, similar to the Huanglong Scenic Area in China. I admired the terraced waterfalls, the green pools under the waterfalls, and the tenacious vitality of the trees soaking in the water. Every step I took was a beautiful photo opportunity. Visiting here not only provides great photos but also a good mood, truly making you reluctant to leave. Laos is also known as the "Land of Elephants." Elephants are considered auspicious, sacred creatures in the hearts of the Lao people, and the capital is named Vientiane. On the way back from Kuang Si Falls, I passed by the Luang Prabang Elephant Camp and had a close encounter with elephants. It was a great experience to feed the elephants. The elephants were very gentle, slowly extending their soft trunks and leisurely putting food into their mouths. An elephant eats 150 kg of food every day, so the bananas and sugarcane I offered were just small snacks for these giants.
