The Rasputin Rock Churches of Matera

The Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Three Doors, is one of the Rasputin Rock churches of Matera, which are really interesting and fairly unique structures. These were churches that were cut out of solid rock and then were embellished with beautiful frescoes inside, dating back to the 12th century. Sadly many of the frescoes are now in poor condition but you can still get a glimpse of what it must’ve been like in times gone by.
