Kurokawa Onsen (黒川温泉) is a famous outdoor hot spring town in Kyushu. This hot spring has been known for its beautifying properties since the Edo period. Nestled in the forest, it's incredibly close to nature. This hot spring resort is a community-developed resort, designed to coexist with nature in a sustainable way. Even the ryokan's amenities, like shampoo and soap, are made from plants, a thoughtful approach to the environment. They offer an Onsen Hopping Pass called the "Nyuto Tegata (入湯手形)", a pass for tourists. Bamboo neck-hanging tickets for entry to three of the 25 onsen (hot springs) are available at 3 of the 25 facilities. The fee is 1,500 yen for adults and 700 yen for children. You can apply for one at any Kurokawa Onsen ryokan or at the Kurokawa Onsen Tourist Inn Cooperative Association. The onsen pass is valid for six months. After use, you can keep the wooden sign as a souvenir. I recommend visiting during the fall foliage season and winter. In particular, during winter, at night, bamboo lanterns are lit up throughout the area, from the riverside to the riverside, creating a truly romantic atmosphere. This is a recommended place to stay for at least one or two nights. ・
