Phra That Na Dun is located in Na Dun District, Maha Sarakham Province. It is an important place of Buddhism for the people of Maha Sarakham. It is a place of worship built to bring prosperity to the region. It is called the “Buddha Monument of Isan”. Every year, there is a Phra That Na Dun worship event on the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 3rd lunar month or Makha Bucha Day. The event includes candlelight procession around the Phra Borommathat, paying homage to the Phra Borommathat, practicing Vipassana meditation, making merit by offering alms to monks, chanting and listening to sermons, a procession, a 12-month tradition, a light and sound show, the history of Champasak, and a celebratory performance throughout the event.
