Its history can be traced back to the Muromachi period more than 600 years ago. You can also take a bus from Yamaguchi Station to Nagato Yumoto Onsen, which takes about 1 hour. ☕️ In the spring of 2020, Nagato Yumoto Onsen Street was completely renovated. With the theme of a relaxing stroll in the hot spring street, several petite and artistic coffee shops and small stores opened on both sides of the Onshin River. "café & potter" is a very popular one among them. In addition to the coffee area, there is also a display area for Yamaguchi Prefecture's specialty ceramics Hagi ware; another popular shop on the hot spring street is "Yanagiya", which is a shop specializing in Yamaguchi Prefecture's specialty food "tile soba". ♨️The Otani Villa next to the hot spring hotel "Otani Villa Onshin" where we stayed in Nagato Yumoto Onsen is an old hot spring hotel that opened in 1881 (the first generation was called "Otani-ya"). It has a history of more than 140 years since its opening and is the most representative old hotel in Nagato Yumoto Onsen. ♨️Although this hot spring hotel is called a hotel, it is actually very large. This is the first time I have stayed in such a large tatami hot spring hotel. The main tone of the museum is dark wood, with a retro and elegant feel. Many places are decorated with Hagi-yaki artworks, creating a strong artistic atmosphere, and all rooms have private baths. 🍷Otani Sanso is very strict in the selection of ingredients. The beef used is the best part of Yamaguchi Wagyu. Although Yamaguchi Prefecture is adjacent to Kyushu, the lobster used is Ise lobster from Mie Prefecture. They would rather give up the nearby ones and require the best ingredients. When you go to Yamaguchi, you must try the specialty food of Yamaguchi Prefecture - pufferfish. More than 80% of the natural pufferfish in Japan are caught in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Therefore, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture is also known as the "headquarters of pufferfish", which means the original and authentic place of origin of pufferfish. 🌸I heard from the locals that the cherry blossom season in Nagato Yumoto Onsen is particularly beautiful. Every spring, both sides of the Onshin River are full of cherry blossoms. If you have the chance, go to Yamaguchi to see the cherry blossoms again in spring!
