Tourist attractions in Yamaguchi

Motonosumi Shrine, pictured here, is located in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is characterised by its spectacular views overlooking the Sea of ​​Japan and its 123 vermilion-painted torii gates. It's famous as a tourist spot, but it also has an interesting historical background. Motonosumi Shrine was founded in 1955 (Showa 30) by local fishing boss Okamura Hitoshi to pray for safety in the local fishing industry and at sea.
