I had seen that huge whirlpool on a TV travel program and found it very magical and shocking. I decided at that time that I must go there if I had the chance. The transportation is not complicated, but it takes a long time because the train and bus services are not frequent. Take the train from Takamatsu Station to Naruto, transfer at Ikeda Station, and finally take the bus to Naruto Park at Naruto Station and get off at Naruto Park Station. The whole journey took about two and a half hours 😞😞 Our destination is the Onaruto Bridge Walking Trail Uzu-no-Michi. Follow the signs and you will pass the observation deck where you can see the exterior of the bridge. After walking for about ten minutes, you will reach the entrance of the bridge. The trail is not completely sealed. Listening to the sound of the waves outside, feeling the strong wind coming in, and overlooking the vast ocean 45 meters below the trail, it feels quite shocking. But I couldn't see any big whirlpools, let alone any decent ones, which was a bit disappointing. If you don't have too high expectations, it is actually very healing to watch through the window and the glass on the ground, the waves stirred up by the big waves landing on the shore; the tides coming from different directions; the white foam in different forms on the water surface; and the small whirlpools forming and disappearing. According to the official website, there is a greater chance of seeing giant whirlpools in spring and autumn. Friends who are interested, remember to check the tide table on the official website.
