The Chai Cheng Road Hiking Trail in Xindian and Zhonghe is an easy walk

The Chai Cheng Road Hiking Trail is located in Xindian District, New Taipei City. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the timber industry was thriving, and a large amount of firewood was piled up near what is now Chai Cheng Street. The firewood was transported along Ankang Creek to Monga, hence the name Chai Cheng. The trail starts from Lane 60, Chai Cheng Road, next to Jiren High School. The entrance to the trail is at the end of the lane, and it leads to Hongludi. In the spring and summer, there are many wild melastomas along the way, which are very beautiful when in full bloom. The entire trail is about 1.7 kilometers long, with a flat stone path that is easy to walk, making it a great route for a relaxed nature hike. Before reaching Hongludi, there is a short steep section with wooden steps on the ridge trail. It takes about half an hour to get here from the trailhead. Following the ridge markers, you can easily reach the famous Nanshan Fude Temple in Zhonghe Hongludi. You can enjoy the scenery from the square next to the temple or take the hiking trail behind the temple to Nanshijiao Mountain.
