Laksfossen, Vivesna River, Norway

Laksfossen is a 17-meter high waterfall located in the Væversna River in Grænne, Nordland, Norway, about 20 km north of Trofoss. The Weversna River is fed by melting snow and rain in the mountains of the Borgberg National Park and is the longest river in Nordland. The Weversna River is rich in salmon (Atlantic salmon). During the fishing season, salmon can be easily caught on the 44-kilometer-long river section, but a permit is required. In the past, salmon fishing was important to the local economy and livelihoods, not for recreation. In the late 19th century, salmon were so abundant that people could actually catch them with their bare hands.
