Osaka Michelin One-Star ad hoc Review｜Wait for a Menu Change Before Visiting

Today, I tried ad hoc, a Michelin one-star restaurant in Osaka's Nakanoshima area, formerly known as Tout-Le-Monde. The ambiance features a minimalist Nordic style with gray, white, and natural wood tones, creating a soothing and comfortable dining environment. However, when it comes to the food, opinions are quite divided. 😅 The lunch menu is priced at 13,000 yen, which is relatively affordable, but the flavors are subjective. The shrimp tart appetizer was thoughtfully crafted, pairing shrimp with pineapple chunks for a refreshing taste. The Spanish cold soup reinterpretation was intriguing, featuring squid stuffed with pork and paired with crispy squid ink chips—odd presentation but delicious! On the downside, the venison with cocoa sauce was hard to accept due to its strong gamey flavor, and the peanut sprouts were a bit astringent. The dessert, a charcoal-grilled corn gelato with coffee sauce, had a combination that was difficult to describe. 😅 The service was gentle and polite, but the staff's English skills were limited, making communication somewhat challenging. In summary, this restaurant stands out for its ambiance and pricing, but the food quality is inconsistent. I genuinely recommend waiting for a menu change before giving it a try!
