Take a tour of Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace, Ban Puen Palace, Phetchaburi Province

Phra Ram Ratchaniwet or Wang Ban Puen is a royal residence that King Chulalongkorn ordered to be built when he visited Phetchaburi Province. It is located in Ban Puen Subdistrict, along the Phetchaburi River, Phetchaburi Province. It was designed by Karl Dohring, a German architect, and Dr. Bayer was the construction engineer. The project was to purchase land from villagers in Ban Puen District, along the Phetchaburi River. His Royal Highness Prince Damrong Rajanubhab and His Royal Highness Prince Paribatra Sukhumphan, Prince of Nakhon Sawan, were the supervisors of the construction. His Majesty ordered Karl Siegfried Dohring, who had previously designed Bang Khun Phrom Palace, Woradit Palace, and Prince Dilok Naparat Palace, to be the architect. The palace uses Baroque and Art Nouveau architectural styles, or what the Germans call "Jugendstil," emphasizing modernity and not having elaborate stucco patterns like buildings from the same period. This throne hall focuses on the height of the windows and the extra-wide ceiling, making the throne hall look grand. It is currently the 15th Military Circle and has been set up as a museum of history and art of Phetchaburi Province. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Rama IX, ordered that Phra Ram Ratchaniwet be used as the command center of the Royal Thai Army and as a museum of history and art of Phetchaburi Province.
