Exploring Phitsanulok: The Golden Temple in the Heart of the City

I've seen beautiful pictures of this temple for a long time but never had the chance to visit. On this trip to Phitsanulok, I finally made time to stop by. This temple, named Wat Chan Tawan Tok, is located along the Nan River in Mueang Phitsanulok District. It’s near the Suphankalaya Bridge and directly opposite Wat Chan Tawan Ok. Originally known as "Wat Rang Ngoen," it is believed to have been built around the same time as the founding of Phitsanulok city, making it a very ancient temple. The highlight here is the Maha Viharn Somdej Ong Pathom, a magnificent golden hall, and the Luang Por Thong Lai Ma, a large standing Buddha statue in the alms-holding posture situated at the front of the temple. I arrived at the temple around noon, though the weather wasn’t very cooperative. Here are the photos I captured to share with everyone.
