Phutthaisawan...an ancient temple that has been with Ayutthaya for over 600 years.

Wat Phutthaisawan is a very important temple in the early Ayutthaya period because it was built by King U Thong when he established Ayutthaya as the capital for 3 years until today. The temple is over 600 years old. Wat Phutthaisawan is located outside the city island of Ayutthaya, so it has been affected by the various wars between Thailand and Burma less than temples located inside the city island. Therefore, the important buildings are still in good condition and have been renovated continuously. You will see both new and old buildings mixed together, which are very important historically. I walked around the temple and thought of the Wat Phutthaisawan sword school, which was a place to gather soldiers and train for fighting enemies in period dramas. Whether it is the main prang, which has a room containing the relics of the Lord Buddha or the balcony surrounding the relics, which has Buddha images all around. In addition, there is the ordination hall and the vihara, which enshrine the reclining Buddha. There is also the palace of Phra Phutthakhosachan, which has a painting of him worshiping the Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka. Anyone who comes to Wat Phutthaisawan must pay homage to the monuments of the three kings: King U Thong, King Naresuan, and King Phra Ekathotsarot, and then sit and watch the Chao Phraya River at the pavilion at the pier to see the changes of the former capital, which now has houses and hotels lining the banks of the old city island.
