Wat Luang, Phrae Province

Wat Luang, Phrae Province, is located in Wat Luang Village, Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang, Phrae Province. The Fine Arts Department has registered it as an ancient site that is thousands of years old. Inside the temple, there is Wihan Luang Phon Nakhon, which houses Phra Chao Saen Luang, the principal Buddha image. It is a large Buddha image in a meditation posture, in the Lanna and Sukhothai styles. At the back of the Wihan is Phra That Luang Chai Chang Kham, which houses relics brought from the city of Bago, Burma. Wat Luang is an important ancient temple that has been in Phrae for thousands of years. This temple was built at the same time as the city of Phrae. It is currently used to house a statue of the Lord of Phrae.
