Wat Phra Luang or Wat Phra That Neng, Phrae Province

In 1787, there were Tai Lue people from Chiang Saen, Chiang Rai Province who migrated south to Ban Sung Men, Phrae Province. There were monks, novices, and villagers from 3 temples and 3 villages who came to build houses as a village and helped restore the abandoned temple, including the large principal Buddha image in the chapel. They named this temple “Wat Phra Luang” and this village “Ban Phra Luang”. Both the temple and the village have the word “Luang”, probably because there was a large principal Buddha image. There were villagers who migrated to live in 3 villages and 3 temples. This place was a large forest, Dong Luang. Wat Phra Luang has many important ancient sites, namely the Phra Luang Temple Chedi, the Tripitaka Hall, and the Bell Tower.
