The reason it was named Wat Chaeng came from Chao Phraya Bodindet (Singha Singhaseni) who led his army back from the Cambodian War. When he stayed at this temple, he saw that the temple was bright, so he named it Wat Chaeng. Luang Pho Phet is a sacred Buddha image that was invited from Cambodia. The chedi is beautiful, similar to Phra That Phanom. The various buildings inside the temple have a Lanna feel. It's fun to walk around and take pictures.
