Visit Ruifang's heritage sites: Liukeng Slope Cableway and Wuji Cableway North Tunnel

#MarchGoodPlaces2025 Liukeng Slope Cableway and Wuji Cableway are the relatively intact cableway relics preserved in Jinguashi. The upper entrance of the cableway is located next to the parking lot above Quanji Hall. From here, it goes straight down the slope to Liukeng, the main mountain, which is the Liukeng slope cableway (Figure 1-5). The cableway from Benshan Liukeng to the Thirteen-layer Ore Processing Site is the Wuji Cableway. It passes through two tunnels (the South Tunnel and the North Tunnel) and finally arrives at the parking lot above the Thirteen-layer Site. There is an observation deck next to the cable car (Figure 11-12) where you can see the beautiful Yin Yang Sea. The Liukeng Slope Cableway and the Wuji Cableway had been silent for more than 20 years and were almost submerged in wild grass and weeds. In 2012, a group of old miners in Jinguashi could not bear to see the cableway disappear, so they took sickles and tools, weeded and repaired it, and finally the cableway saw the light of day again. After the news was exposed, it attracted many mountaineers to visit and explore. The efforts of the old miners finally won the attention of the government's cultural department. In December 2013, the New Taipei City government registered the "Shuinandong Benshan Liukengkou and Ropeway System" as a historical building. At the north tunnel entrance of the Wuji Cableway next to the parking lot (Figure 6-10), there is a sign that says "Heart Hole". The tunnel is not long, less than 200 meters. You can see the light at the other end of the tunnel. Only when you get to the other side do you know the secret of the heart, which is the installation art door on the opposite side. This ingenuity makes the ancient monument very attractive, and you can try many ways to take pictures.
