A French patisserie worth a visit in St. Malo

#Songkran2024Travel Philippe Bouvier Pâtisserie Chocolaterie is considered a Local’s Favourite pastry shop in the Bretagne or Brittany region of France. The shop is located in Rennes and Saint Malo, where we had the opportunity to visit the latter branch. The shop is located on Rue de la Vieille Boucherie, just one block south of Saint Malo Cathedral. It is a convenient location in the city center. ✅ Profile Although the name Philippe Bouvier may not be familiar internationally, he is one of the Pâtissiers who has accumulated a lot of skills and experience. In addition to studying to be a pastry chef specializing in chocolate, he also trained at leading pastry shops such as Lenôtre, Daloyau, Carette, Jouve … etc. before training with Hans Stucki, the 2-Michelin-starred chef and owner of the shop in Basel, Switzerland - until he opened his first shop in Rennes and expanded to Saint Malo in the same region. Because they have been based in Brittany for so long, Philippe Bouvier's shop has become a local famous shop. In addition to being popular with locals, it is also a shop that tourists want to visit to make it worth their visit to Brittany. ✅ Buy and try Inside the shop, there are many types of pastries, cakes, bakery goods, ice cream, chocolate, and Macarons. From looking at the shop's display, we can see that the Macarons in various flavors and colors are the highlight that the shop is most proud of presenting. So we chose to try these. ➡️ Grapefruit - When we tasted it, the outer skin of the Macaron was a bit hard. The filling was jam with a clear grapefruit scent, but it was extremely sweet. ➡️ Strawberry - A beautiful pink piece with strawberry jam filling that was just as sweet as the first piece. ➡️ Violette - A cream filling with a light, sweet floral scent. It reminds me of baby powder. It’s quite unique. ➡️ Orange Earl Grey – Orange cream filling mixed with a light Earl Grey tea scent. It smells good. ➡️ Pain d’Epices – Ginger bread (cake) flavor is my favorite. When I made it into a macaron filling, I liked it more than the other flavors. ➡️ Caramel au beurre salé – Sea Salt Caramel is a specialty of the Brittany-Normandie region. So this one is a must-try.
