Chengyang Eight Villages

Chengyang Eight Villages is located north of Sanjiang County. You can take a bus from Hexi Station. After leaving the city, you will see the gate of Chengyang Eight Villages in less than half an hour. Chengyang Eight Villages refers to eight Dong villages in the mountains, which are now enclosed in a scenic area that requires a ticket to enter. You can book tickets on your phone one day in advance for a discount. After entering the gate, it is still a few kilometers to the core of the village, and the ticket includes the cost of the electric car. Chengyang Eight Villages includes Ma'an Village, Ping Village, Yan Village, Dong Village, Da Village, Pingtan Village, Jichang Village, and Pingpu Village. The first three villages have been developed, so the tour route is basically a circle around these three villages. The sightseeing bus took me to the Dong Painting Museum, where I started my walking tour of Chengyang Eight Villages. My tour route started from the Dong Painting Museum, crossed Yongji Bridge to Helong Bridge, entered Yan Village, saw Yan Village Drum Tower and Sa Altar, crossed Linxi River to Ping Village. The highlight of Ping Village is the Single Pillar Drum Tower. After passing through Ping Village, I returned to Helong Bridge, crossed Helong Bridge, walked along the riverbank, followed the road that the Red Army took back then to Ma'an Village, saw Ma'an Drum Tower, and returned to the road I took to enter the village. Finally, I crossed Yongji Bridge again and took a sightseeing bus at the Dong Painting Museum back to the gate of the scenic area. Compared to some ethnic minority villages in Guizhou, although this is also a commercialized attraction, its degree of commercialization is not so serious, and the basic original ecological culture is still preserved, and the environment of the Dong village is also particularly good. I just took a quick tour and couldn't experience it in depth. It would be best to stay here for a day or two. While waiting for the bus at the Dong Painting Museum, I found that there is also a Yinlong Rock here, with a hiking trail that can be climbed to the top of the mountain to overlook the panoramic view of Chengyang Eight Villages surrounded by mountains. Unfortunately, I was already a little tired at the time, so I gave up. I was lucky that day, as I caught the bus back to the city just after leaving the gate. After returning to Hexi Station, I got off the bus and saw a noodle shop, ordered a bowl of Liuzhou snail noodles, and the taste was authentic. I crossed Xunjiang River via Guyi Bridge, and there was a small drum tower at the bridgehead, where many citizens sat around playing cards, which also showed me the practical significance of the drum tower.
