Houhai Beach - hectic but a beauty!

🚗 Getting There - You can DiDi or drive yourself! rent a car with Ehi and it’s super handy! It’s about 45mins to 1hour from Sanya beach. 🏨 Hotels - I stayed at Sanya Houhai Surf Designer Meisu and loved it. There are plenty of places to stay (ranging from pretty cheap to very pricey) but I opted for off the main beach and town because it’s really crowded and too noisy at night! Loved my stay. 🥘 Food & Restaurants - I would highly suggest the taco truck - he is serving up fresh tacos with delicious roasted pineapple and pico de Gallo, a real treat! The food street is nice with loads of different options of street food to choose from- the mango ice cream is delicious. It’s loud but festive! 🛍 Shopping - There is a plethora of beach themed shop where you can get any amount of trinket, beachware and gear! It’s a very touristy spot. 🏝 Attractions - This is a smaller bay than Yalong and it’s really nice if you walk away from the town! Although swimming isn’t recommended or safe in the middle of the beach as there are really strong undercurrentsand the lifeguards will come and re-direct you. During the day – the water is FULL of people trying to learn to surf. They are giving very little instructions and at times don’t opt to get a teacher and so it’s very hectic and at times dangerous with so many boards, people and children in the water at one time. I saw several people get hit by others boards or trying to surf with fins forward… but if you walk away from town, it’s nice and quiet. If you like to surf there are still chances to get some waves to yourself furtherout. Boards are anywhere from80-150 for the day, try to bargain if you plan on going a could times. The beach gets super super crowded at night. With fire sparklers, throwers and super loud music by the bars out front. It’s something to see how many people are out and about!
