Escape in Eunpyeong Hanok Village: A Refreshing Day Out

#cityplaybook Despite the lingering coolness of morning and evening, the midday sun in Seoul already hints at early summer. Before the sweltering heat truly sets in, I made a spontaneous trip to Eunpyeong Hanok Village, a destination I’d previously deemed too far. Turns out, it wasn't as distant as I imagined! Arriving on a peaceful weekday morning, the village was wonderfully uncrowded, with only a few foreign tourists scattered about. This tranquility allowed for a relaxed start to my day at 1인1상 (1 Person 1 Table). I was surprised by its sheer size; even at just past 10 AM, the cafe was bustling with patrons. The 4th and 5th floors, scheduled to open at 11 AM, already had waiting lists! After initially settling on the 2nd floor, I found it too warm and relocated to the rooftop. And what a view it was! The cool breeze and expansive panorama were simply exquisite. A word of caution, though: glass cups are not allowed on the rooftop, a rule I learned firsthand from a staff member. After a refreshing drink, I headed to Jingwansa Temple. I hadn't realized how large this temple was! The grounds were incredibly serene. Though I couldn't find the usual candle offering, I offered a roof tile instead – Namu Amita Bul. The walk to and from the temple was incredibly healing, and the sound of the water was particularly delightful. Finally, I made a quick stop at the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum, feeling it would be a missed opportunity otherwise. It was a pleasant, light viewing experience, shared with a group of kindergarteners. Eunpyeong Hanok Village exceeded my expectations. It was a truly lovely experience, and I'm already planning a return visit in the autumn! #historicallandmarks #traditionalculture
