It's more down-to-earth than Kashgar, and more rustic than the commercialized Lijiang and Dali. When I was having morning tea, the Uyghur man sitting next to me helped me clean the table. At noon, I wanted to eat watermelon but couldn't finish a whole one. I asked a Uyghur girl where I could buy some, and she took me to a nearby watermelon shop. I bought a sprout and asked how much it was. The Uyghur woman said it was free. I was so embarrassed. Life here is slow. You need to take your time to experience this city. It's not a place for checking in, but for living.
