Bustling Jing'an

In the heart of bustling Shanghai stands Jing'an Temple, a renowned ancient Buddhist Tantric monastery. With over 1,700 years of history, this temple features a distinctive layout with the main hall in front and a pagoda in the back. It remains a thriving place of worship today, attracting countless devotees and tourists from both home and abroad. The temple's architecture alone is eye-catching. The gilded four-faced lion atop the "Dharma-Dwelling Brahma Banner" beside the main gate exudes majesty. The halls are crowned with copper tiles, creating a dazzling display of gold, while the Vajrasana Pagoda towers impressively behind the main hall. Though named Jing'an (meaning "peace and tranquility"), the area is actually quite vibrant. Across from the temple, Jing'an Temple Plaza houses Asia's largest Apple flagship store. The surrounding area features towering buildings and a mix of commercial and cultural leisure spaces. The Yongquan Spring, once known as the "Sixth Spring Under Heaven," was one of the eight scenic spots of Jing'an. It's clear that this area has been a bustling hub throughout history.
