Shanghai Bund | Complete Guide

If this is your first time in Shanghai, the Bund is a must-see. 🌈Take Subway Line 2 or Line 10, exit from Exit 2 of Nanjing East Road Station, and walk east along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street for about 10 minutes to reach the Bund. 🌈The Bund stretches 1,500 meters, with 52 classical revival buildings of various styles standing along the street, known as the "World Architecture Expo Group." 🌈The building on the north side of Nanjing Road is the Sassoon House, which houses the famous Peace Hotel. Next to it is the Bank of China building, built by Mr. T. V. Soong. 🌈The building on the south side of Nanjing Road is the Astor House Hotel, where Dr. Sun Yat-sen famously said, "The revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still need to work hard." Next to the Astor House Hotel is the famous No. 18 on the Bund, home to international high-end brands and restaurants. 🌈The Customs House is modeled after the Big Ben in England and plays "The East is Red" on the hour. 🌈From the viewing platform, you can see Shanghai's landmark building across the Huangpu River, the 468-meter-tall Oriental Pearl Tower. Next to it are the Lujiazui trio: the 420-meter-tall Jin Mao Tower, the 492-meter-tall World Financial Center, and China's tallest building, the 632-meter-tall Shanghai Tower. 🌈Walk north along the Huangpu River to the Monument to the People's Heroes. The three giant pillars symbolize the immortal revolutionary spirit. Next to it is the iconic building of old Shanghai, the Waibaidu Bridge, the bridge from which Yi Ping jumped in the TV series "Romance in the Rain." 🌈Continue on to the Zhapu Road Bridge, a niche photography spot for capturing both Lujiazui and Waibaidu Bridge in the same frame. It's less crowded but offers great photo opportunities.
