Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li This hotel is tucked away at 480 Jianguo West Road in Xuhui District, surrounded by old villas, giving off a nostalgic vibe. The first time I stepped inside, I was captivated by the retro yet luxurious atmosphere. The shikumen architectural style, with its red bricks and black gates, exudes the elegance of old Shanghai in every detail. 🍵Check-in Experience: Attention to Detail During check-in, the hotel's cultural tourism butler accompanied me throughout, from the lobby to the room, providing detailed explanations along the way. I stayed in a Shikumen Garden Villa. As soon as I entered, there was a small courtyard. Opening the courtyard gate felt like stepping back into the golden age of old Shanghai. The room was full of surprises, such as the welcome fruits that were already prepared and a handwritten welcome letter, which felt very thoughtful. What touched me the most was that the charging cables I had used before were neatly organized by the staff. These small details truly warmed my heart. 🍽️Culinary Experience: A Feast for the Senses The hotel's restaurants are also superb! I had breakfast at the Michelin-starred Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire, and the taste was simply divine. There were both Chinese and Western dishes, each one as exquisite as a work of art. The hotel also has an evening ritual where you can enjoy a glass of champagne and some snacks in the library, creating a perfect ambiance. 🌳Nearby Attractions: Just a Stone's Throw Away Staying here provides easy access to nearby attractions. Xintiandi, with its abundance of delicious food and entertainment, is not far from the hotel. Tianzifang, another famous spot in Shanghai, is also within walking distance. Every day after dinner, I would stroll around the neighborhood, immersing myself in the charm of old Shanghai. 📝Tips • Luggage Tag: Don't forget to take the Capella luggage tag when you check out; the leather one is particularly beautiful. • Room Upgrade: If you have the opportunity, be sure to try the Shikumen Garden Villa. It's incredibly quiet and has a private garden. • Restaurant Reservations: The French restaurant is very popular, so it's recommended to book in advance, especially for dinner. In short, Capella Shanghai is truly a gem of a hotel in my heart, and I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Shanghai!
