A century-old store with new ideas

Tao Tao Ju, a time-honored restaurant in Guangzhou, has now blossomed all over the country with a total of 35 branches. This time I visited Qianhai, Shenzhen, and tasted the dim sum and side dishes of this century-old restaurant. The dishes are creative and novel. For example, the traditional glutinous rice chicken is turned into a pizza style, topped with cheese and salad sauce, and cut into the shape of a cake and served on the table; hawthorn juice mixed with Lingnan papaya is appetizing and refreshing; avocado and coconut smoothie is refreshing and relieves greasiness. Other nostalgic dishes, such as wonton noodles, spiced beef offal, shrimp dumplings and siu mai, retain the old-fashioned flavor. It is not easy to have both tradition and creativity.
