Japan's largest statue of Nehan "Kotoji Temple"

During my trip to Nagasaki, I visited the tourist spot "Koto-ji Temple." "Koto-ji Temple" is a Soto Zen temple famous for its Nehan statue. After the construction of Shimabara Castle, "Koto-ji Temple" was moved to the outskirts of the castle town, and the castle lord Matsukura Shigemasa made this temple his family temple and renamed it Koto-ji Temple. However, the temple was destroyed during the Shimabara catastrophe and was later rebuilt in its current location. The Nirvana painting was dedicated at this time. The famous "Nehan statue" was built in 1957 to commemorate the souls of Itakura Shigemasa and Matsukura Shigemasa. It is said to be the largest concrete statue in Japan, measuring about 8 meters. The sign of the Great Law Wheel was engraved on the soles of the feet. It is said that 10,000 copies of copied sutras by believers have been donated to the head.
