Reisa Nature Reserve, Arctic Norway

#tripcom5thAnniversary The Reisautløpet Nature Reserve in the Norwegian Arctic is a nature reserve and Ramsar site located at the outlet of the Reisa River in the municipality of Nordreid, Tromsø. The reserve was established in 1995 "to protect a large river delta that includes one of the three most valuable salt meadows in northern Norway and where many species of wetland birds are observed during migration." The river's mouth, where it flows into the Reysafjörður, is a river delta with sandbars and salt marshes, salt swamps, brackish water beds and pools. The vegetation of beach meadows has southern and northern subarctic characteristics. Ossett is an important migration and grazing area for seabirds and waders, with many larks, eiders, ducks, waders and terns. The beach meadow is of international conservation value for botanical purposes. The area was designated as a Ramsar Site in 2011 due to its regional conservation value for birds. This place is near the Rethymno Hotel. I took photos of the Northern Lights that night.
