Ruins of Roman Baths

These ruins of an ancient Roman baths were only discovered relatively recently in the year 2000 when maintenance work was taking place in the area. Originally the bars would’ve had a series of rooms with pools of different temperatures and probably even saunas, all cut into the rock! Before that, the caves would’ve been used as a burial site. During the 17th century an arched doorway was added and the baths would have become a farmhouse. #celebrateit #malta #ancient
