Visit Sukhothai Temples and Historical Park

There are about 70 ancient sites here, built since Sukhothai was the center of the capital city, based on Buddhist and Brahman concepts. Thousands of people visit each year. It is registered by UNESCO and now there are traces of more than 26 temples and palaces. The largest temple is Wat Mahathat, with a chedi in the shape of a rice bundle, which is a unique characteristic of the Sukhothai period. There are also buildings that display artifacts such as Thai script, stone inscriptions, Sangkhalok and tools from that era. Another highlight is Wat Si Chum, which is a little further away. There is a very large and beautiful Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture. It is in a chapel whose roof has collapsed, leaving only four walls with no windows.
