Visit the Historical Shilin Official Residence

Located in Taipei's Shilin District, the Shilin Official Residence (士林官邸) was the residence of Chiang Kai-shek, the former President of the Republic of China, and his wife Soong Mei-ling. Today, it is open to the public as a historical landmark. Originally a horticultural experimental station during the Japanese colonial period, the residence was converted into Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling's official residence when they moved to Taipei in 1949. Since 1996, it has been open to visitors, allowing them to explore the couple's living quarters and the beautiful gardens. The main building is a two-story Western-style structure, preserving spaces such as Chiang Kai-shek's study, bedroom, and Soong Mei-ling's art studio. Additionally, the residence features various architectural highlights, including the Victory Chapel and Xinlan Pavilion.
