Wat Phra That Nong Bua, formerly known as Wat Nong Bua, is another important temple in Ubon Ratchathani Province. It was built in 1955 by Buddhists in Ubon Ratchathani who are devoted to Buddhism. The highlight of Wat Phra That Nong Bua is the Phra That Chedi Si Maha Pho or Phra That Nong Bua, which is a replica of the chedi in Bodh Gaya, India, the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment. The chedi also contains the relics of the Buddha, which were built to mark the 25th century of Buddhism in 1957. Inside Phra That Nong Bua is the place where the relics of the Buddha are enshrined, which are enshrined in a stupa covered in gold in the Pala style of Indian art, i.e. a square stupa carved with the stories of the 500 lives of the Lord Buddha, which is very interesting.
