The ancient city of Novgorod is the birthplace of Russian history and a center of trade, culture, and religion. It is the spiritual capital of Russia. The ancient city of Novgorod is located on the banks of the wide Volkhov River. From the bridge, you can see the entire ancient city, the church spires on the red city walls, and the lush vegetation. The city is quiet and livable, with few people. The Yuriev Monastery in the southern suburbs is one of the oldest monasteries in Russia and belongs to the Eastern Orthodox Church. Behind the monastery is a small garden. The bright flowers set off the white walls and the blue dome. The bell of the monastery is loud and shocking. Novgorod's wood processing is very famous, so we went to visit the open-air museum of traditional wooden structures. There are many buildings here, such as farmhouses and granaries, which are preserved intact. Walking and browsing here is like returning to medieval Russia.
