Xuancheng Museum | Five Colors of Xuancheng, A City of a Thousand Years

When it comes to Xuancheng, the Xuan Paper Museum is always on my mind, but after visiting the Xuancheng Museum, I realized that this is also a must-see stop in Xuancheng! ✍The museum has 4⃣ floors (1⃣ floor: special exhibition hall; 2⃣3⃣ floors: Xuancheng local cultural relics; 4⃣ floor: Four Treasures of the Study) Xuancheng Museum (hereinafter referred to as "Xuanbo") is located by Wanling Lake and shares a building with the Xuancheng Planning Museum. The building's exterior resembles undulating water waves from above and an open book from the side, with a white and blue color scheme and abstract tree patterns on the walls. It harmonizes beautifully with the rippling waters and reeds of Wanling Lake. Xuanbo is open to visitors on four floors. The first floor is a temporary exhibition hall, currently showcasing the "Golden Branches and Jade Leaves - Special Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Jewelry." The second and third floors house the permanent exhibition "Millennium Ancient County, Cultural Xuancheng." The fourth floor features the permanent exhibitions "Treasures of the Study" and "My Land, My Feelings." The former showcases the Four Treasures of the Study from Xuancheng, while the latter presents Xuancheng's intangible cultural heritage and market culture in the form of a traditional street market. Xuanbo is like a larger version of Mabo, with standard and orderly permanent exhibitions. It has more content and collections than Mabo, showcasing Xuancheng's long-standing historical status as a county seat, but the exhibition layout lacks the creativity and thoughtfulness of Chubo. Although there are many collections, few are truly outstanding. However, the "Treasures of the Study" exhibition can be considered Xuanbo's "flagship product." After all, Xuan paper, one of the Four Treasures of the Study, is entirely produced in Xuancheng, and Hui ink is shared by Xuancheng and Huangshan. Additionally, Xuancheng's local Xuan brushes and Xuan inkstones are of excellent quality, making Xuancheng rightfully known as the "City of the Four Treasures of the Study." The corresponding exhibition is also rich in content. 🎫Tickets: Free ⏰Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00-17:00
