Ehu Academy

Ehu Academy Ehu Academy is located at the foot of Ehu Mountain in Ehu Town, Yanshan County, Shangrao. It is one of the four ancient academies in Jiangxi Province, covering an area of 8,000 square meters. Ehu Academy was once a famous cultural center. The Ehu Meeting, attended by Zhu Xi, a Neo-Confucianist of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Lu Jiuyuan, among others, was a significant event in the history of Confucianism in China. To commemorate the Ehu Meeting, the "Shrine of Four Sages" was built behind the academy. In the 10th year of the Chunxi era of the Song Dynasty, the academy was named "Wenzong Academy" and later renamed "Ehu Academy". From the Southern Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the academy was destroyed several times by war and rebuilt several times. The largest renovation and expansion project took place in the 56th year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1717). Emperor Kangxi even wrote an inscription and couplet for the Imperial Library. The academy has survived for hundreds of years, retaining its original appearance and layout. It is one of the few academies that have been preserved in their original form. The academy houses permanent exhibitions, such as "The Ehu Meeting and Ehu Academy" and "Xin Qiji and Yanshan".
