For lunch, we sought out a local cha chaan teng, a beloved Hong Kong institution. The no-frills diner was everything we had hoped for: a bowl of instant noodles, generously topped with savory ingredients, accompanied by a fluffy, golden omelette and a simple sandwich. Each bite felt like a comforting embrace of local flavors, and the rich, creamy Hong Kong-style milk tea was the ideal partner to the meal, balancing its sweetness with a satisfying, velvety texture. Afterward, we wandered to a nearby Chinese dessert shop, where we enjoyed a timeless favorite: steamed creamy milk pudding.
