Shaping Ancient Village in Yizhang, Hunan

Originally established by the Chen family and named "Chen Family Village," Shaping Village later saw the Li family rise to prominence, gradually replacing the Chen residents. At the center of the village stands the Li Family Ancestral Hall, built during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty. The hall features three bays, two courtyards, and a central skywell, covering approx. 150m². In front of the hall is an ornate gate tower inscribed with "Scenic Beauty," and the entrance hall boasts a hexagonal caisson ceiling. The village preserves dozens of ancient residences from the late Qing and early Republic periods, arranged symmetrically around the ancestral hall in orderly rows. Typical architectural elements include horse-head gables, carved stone plinths, and intricately designed doors and windows. Recognized as part of the fifth batch of China's Traditional Villages.
