#AprilGoodDestinations2025 The Filial Piety Pavilion on the west hill of Xiaoshitan in Yongzhou is located on the Hunan-Guangxi Ancient Road. It was built by Xiong Xueli, a local man who was an attendant in the Hanlin Academy in the fourth year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, to express his chastity and filial piety to his mother. The pavilion is a brick, stone and wood structure. It faces northeast and southwest, with arched doors in the north and south. The space is supported by four stone piers. The couplets on the pillars, such as "The ancient well leaves fragrance in people's minds and reminds them of Liudong, the holy spring is as clean as the land and commemorates Lingling", are full of local flavor and the calligraphy is exquisite. The pavilion used to be a place for travelers to rest and drink tea. Now it is the base for Yongzhou Rongzhi Culture Media Co., Ltd. and the intangible cultural heritage transmission of filial piety and love culture.
