The restoration work took nearly a year and included replacing rotten wood and damaged masonry, cleaning wall paint and other decorations, repairing the wooden frame, and re-laying worn roof tiles. The Dafudi is a typical example of the traditional mansion architecture of the gentry class in southern China. It is also one of the most magnificent historical buildings in Hong Kong.
